Fire Life Safety

The successful operation of a building's fire life safety system can mean the difference between a nuisance fire and a catastrophe.  The protection of building occupants, fire services personnel and emergency responders is the foremost objective of these systems.

The National Energy Management Institute Committee (NEMIC) works with industry partners to educate and certify technicians, supervisors and contractors in the areas of Smoke Control Systems, Fire and Smoke Damper installation and damper inspection.  Professionals must accomplish substantial technical training and demonstrate a high level of expertise in order to achieve  ICB Certification, which is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

The Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 Training Center has trained and certified Fire Life Safety Technicians and Supervisors in coordination with NEMIC and ICB for over a decade.

Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 also provides awareness training to Fire Service Officers in Southeast Michigan.  Local 80's Fire Life Safety instructors are available to conduct awareness training at our facility or off site, based on the needs of the group.
